(map showing approximate location of the ride, in the Black Hills)

The Black Hills National Forest calls them forest service roads, but some riders call them 82′ non-width restricted trails. Many of these forest service roads are trail-like!

These are the trails the wider machines can legally use. Some of these trails are open year-round. These are the trails that often take you into the mystery and history of the Black Hills.

There are over 3,000 miles of these forest service road, 82″ non-width restricted trail-like trails. These trails are numbered on the MVUM, with three digit numbers like 201 or 201 2A.

If you like history, the Redfern area is full of this. You may have to get off the ATV to see some of it – but a short walk will take you to some good sightseeing areas. Ride through an old mining district. Enjoy seeing remnants of that industry.

RALLY with us at the STURGIS OFFROAD RALLY.

Trails in this area are some of the most popular in the Black Hills. They are close to Hill City and in the middle of everywhere else.

It is the overlooks that make this ride special. Watch for the overlook on Trail 606.

A great place to stay to ride straight to the trails,  is MYSTIC HILLS HIDEAWAY RESORT.

Hiking trails in the area are the Kinney Canyon Trail #40, and the trail that takes you to the Miners Hotel. To see the Seth Bullock Tower up close you will need to hike up Scruton Mountain.

Slate Prairie Ghost Town is a site with little evidence of a town. Fish and Hunter Ghost Town is another site more than a town. Silver City Ghost Town is still active.

An old Civilian Public Service Camp number 57 is located north of Deerfield Lake.

AFTER A GREAT DAY OF RIDING, STAY AT THE CREEK – WHITETAIL CREEK RESORT.
