Remote and vast in scope, is the Summit Ridge Moon ride. There are numerous trail-like Forest Service roads and a small number of trails. Ride where few people ride. See what few on ATVs see. Its close enough to Ditch Creek, a well used ATV area, to make a great 2nd day of riding.
RALLY with us at the STURGIS OFFROAD RALLY.
The Boles Canyon Mine is a destination worth stopping to see.
The Moon Fire Tower was made of wood, meaning the structure no longer exits.
The Rancher’s Grave has a sad story connected with it.
The Moon Ghost Town, once owned by the Forest Service is now on private land.
You may ride on more gravel roads here, than you prefer but they take you to trail-like forest service roads with great scenery and adventure. Trail 3534 will get your adrenaline flowing as it loops you into Wyoming and then back into South Dakota (no Wy permit required). Here you will use 4-wheel drive and appreciate your ADC. If you pass a cattle watering tank, you have missed a right turn and are now on private land. Only solution is to turn around.
The most unique geological features are found at the Southern end of this ride at Sled Canyon. Although the trail is gravely, the scenery is amazing!
As you look to discover the Moon area, watch for the Rudenvale Spring.
There are no width restrictive trail on the Summit Ridge Ride.
Connecting rides include: Antelope Springs Ride, Ditch Creek Ride, Four Corners Ride and the Jasper Ride.
Parking for the Summit Ridge Ride is best at the Antelope Springs Trailhead.

The Blackhills have great ATV trails and Forest Service roads. I have traveled most of them. Our forest service roads are either road-like or trail-like. On my Favorite Rides pages, I have highlighted the many TRAIL-LIKE Forest Service Roads.
I put this website together to help others enjoy their ATV visit to South Dakota. When I ATV out of my state, I realize how difficult it is to plan a three day ride without good information. I hope my website will be good information for you.

Hello Darold just want to say thanks for the trail information. My friends and I live in Iowa but come up to the black hills a couple times a year and always looking for new places to ride. Normally we stay in the Nemo area but this site gives us new places to try out. Thanks again
I am happy that the website was helpful. Have a great ride in the Black Hills!
