50 inch ATV trails! These trails are gated effectively, strategically placed rocks and fallen trees control the trail width, while forest service patrol for violators. Grass and forbs grow between the two track trails. Shrubs brush against the side of your atv, and trees canopy overhead helps make it a great atv trail experience.
FOR ALL YOUR UTV RENTAL NEEDS, VISIT DEADWOOD OUTDOOR RENTALS.
These trails appear to be somewhat susceptible to damage. The trails are dirt rather than rock, and water collects easily in low spots. If you have a choice, choose to ride here when the trails are dry.
You can access these trails from the Blacktail Trailhead or from the Reuter Trailhead. Even though Blacktail is 30 plus miles North of Sundance it is worth the drive. If you access from Reuter, take Trail 1041 where it intersects with 854 (Bearlodge Road). It is a little difficult to find but when found it is well signed.
RALLY with us at the STURGIS OFFROAD RALLY.
BearLodge Fire Tower is a great destination to start your ride.
Evidence of General Custer’s visit to the area can be found at the Inyan Kara gravesite and at the July 21 Custer Camp.
MYSTIC HILLS HIDEAWAY RESORT OFFERS A GREAT STAY, AND ABILITY TO RIDE DIRECTLY TO THE TRAILS.
If you have time visit the Devil’s Tower National Monument. The Tower is an astounding geologic feature that protrudes out of the prairie surrounding the Black Hills.
AFTER A GREAT DAY OF RIDING, RELAX AT THE WHITETAIL CREEK RESORT CREEK-SIDE PAVILLION.
Emil Reuter’s gravesite is just one example of the areas old mining history, and the Baby Doll Mine is another.
The Reuters Ride is a connecting ride.
A good place to park is the Blacktail trailhead(see details below).

The Black Hills have great ATV trails and Forest Service roads. I have traveled most of them. Our forest service roads are either road-like or trail-like. On my Favorite Rides pages, I have highlighted the many TRAIL-LIKE Forest Service Roads.
I put this website together to help others enjoy their ATV visit to South Dakota. When I ATV out of my state, I realize how difficult it is to plan a three day ride without good information. I hope my website will be good information for you.
