Wildlife will be abundant on both sides of the road as you ride through Wind Cave National Park. Unfortunately the trails in the Park are all roads. Riding these roads, will give you numerous opportunities to see wildlife. From Prairie Dogs to Prairie Ox (Prairie Dogs, Pronghorn, Coyote, Mule Deer, Elk, Bison) wildlife is a feature of this part of the ride. If you have time, visit the Cave that the Park is named for; Wind Cave.
AFTER A GREAT DAY OF RIDING, STAY AT THE CREEK – WHITETAIL CREEK RESORT.
As you leave the park on the West, you will enter into the National Forest and some nice, challenging trail-like Forest Service roads. Watch for Highland Creek, Rankin Ridge Fire Tower, and the Cold Springs School.

The historic Beaver Creek Bridge spans a major creek that flows into Wind Cave National Park. The bridge is 115 feet above the canyon floor and made of steel and concrete is 225 feet long. It is the bridge’s arch that makes it a photographic destination.
Built in 1887, Cold Springs school house, is one of the oldest log school buildings in South Dakota. It served as a school, community church and meeting house. It closed in 1949. If you visit, watch for the historic Cold Spring graveyard, located near.
The Gladys Nell Mine is evidence of mining activity in the area.

Highland Creek and Beaver Creek are water features to watch for.
Nearby the Historic Riffle Pit Wagon Train site, in April 1876, Indians ambushed a wagon train heading for Custer.
A great place to stay and ride straight to the trails, is MYSTIC HILLS HIDEAWAY RESORT.
There are no width restrictive trails on the Wind Cave National Park Ride.
Connecting rides include; Argyle Ride, Bluebird Ride, Custer State Park Ride, Minnesota Ride and Richardson Ride.
Parking is available off Red Valley Road.
