“Potato Creek Johnny” is credited with finding one of the world’s largest gold nugget. The nugget was located in Potato Creek. The gold nugget weighed 7-3/4 troy ounces in the shape of a leg. He sold the piece to W.E. Adams for $250.00. Johnny is buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery.Johnny may have found the nugget at this very spot?
