The Hell Canyon area trails are unique in that they travel “legally” through draws and gullies. It could be that this area gets so little rain that even the areas that, anywhere else would be considered pristine can be traveled. Limestone outcrops tower to the side and above you. Grass covered trails are common. This is a place best visited on a cooler day.

RALLY with us this Memorial Day weekend, at the Sturgis Off Road Rally.

One somewhat hidden benefit of limestone outcrops are the “arches.” There are also some nice water crossings.

If you need to rent a machine, why not rent from a business that support most all of the Black Hills, Custer UTV Rentals.

  1. The Black Hills have great ATV trails and Forest Service roads. I have traveled most of them. Our forest service roads are either road-like or trail-like. On my Favorite Rides pages, I have highlighted the many TRAIL-LIKE Forest Service Roads.

I put this website together to help others enjoy their ATV visit to South Dakota. When I ATV out of my state, I realize how difficult it is to plan a three day ride without good information. I hope my website will be good information for you.

Over 1000 visitors a month use this website. Let us know what you think about Black Hills atving!
